Toothless slept in a bit. Usually awake at 530 but slept until 620.
The morning was weird. Toothless had to go for a bathroom break so we climbed up a hill while hiking to find a spot to go and Toothless landed on a cactus. So we had to pick lots of tiny spikes out of his hand. Poor kid. He was so upset.
But other than that – he’s in a great mood.
He must have hiked at least 5 miles today.

The vegetation is starting to change again. Now lush and green. Lots of wind to keep us cool. Not an umbrella day.
I must have rolled my ankle on the way into Julian. I remember stepping on a rock and rolling. Didn’t hurt in Julian but hurt on the way out. And again today. Carrying Toothless less today to keep weight off.
Water cache is cool. It’s a bunch of water bottles trucked in. It’s an absolute god send.
Another hiker told us they found ticks. So we did a tick check as a family and came out clean. We will have to remember to do more of those.
We chose to camp further on than the water source. There were great campsites there but we need to go further. Trying to get to Warner Springs before the post office closes on Saturday. The extra few miles will help.
