We camped last night not far from the first high consequence slope. The one that Trevor died at. So we were planning on getting there in the morning.
We were slow. Toothless hiked most of the day and this stretch was the start. We got there still in the morning but later than anticipated.
The snow was icy and the slope steep. We put our spikes on and both kids in carriers. I took Toothless. I then got to use his poles. I went slow and it was easy.
I thought today would be hard because of the snow. But other than that first section it was chill. The snow was well in our realm of experience. The part that took a lot of effort and time were the blowdowns. Those suck with kids. They can be so slow. We have done them plenty of times but there were so many today.

Toothless did hike most of the day. He hiked on snow. Over and under blowdowns. And on trail (sometimes exposed). He slipped at a really low consequence part and slid on his tummy a few feet. If be kept going he would slowly slide like 15 feet to a log. It was safe. But he reacted really well. Natasha got him. He was upbeat. But we all recognized he was tired so I carried him the mile or so over the continuous snow until camp.

We hiked like 7.3 miles.
Camp is pretty.
Everyone is in a great mood.

Yikes to the exposure. You’re braver than me.
