Today was kind of a long day.
We hiked 10.4 miles. Most of it in great moods.
We saw mess Life again today and signed his tyvek groundsheet this morning. That was cool.
Several thru hikers stopped to talk or at least hiked with us for a beat
One solo hiker gave Secret/Toothless a candy and encouraged him. It was nice. She asked us first if he could have the candy. This was one of those really nice interactions for Secret/Toothless. He sometimes struggles with transitions especially when we chat with other hikers but today he did well.
My pack felt better today. Less food. I also adjusted my hip belt lower to accommodate smaller hips.
Lil Flier was really into touching trees today.
The views were nice.
We stopped at Little Bear Campsite for lunch. So sun exposed but it has a bathroom and scummy water source which we used for diaper laundry. Since it has fencing for horses we used that to hang dry the diapers. They were dry by the time we left!
Toothless listened to “Danger Zone” in Big Bear Lake and he’s still really into it. He belts out a tune!
He struggled at around 2pm. That’s the hardest time for him to regulate but he always has. If he still napped it would be better. But he won’t nap anymore so we just power through it. After that he was such a helpful person. But 2pm sucked.
We found a site near a creek. We don’t need water but it was our only option for a while. It’ll be cool at night but the site had a nice spot for eating dinner. The tent site is sloped so I we able to shift the sand around to level it out. It feels flat but we will see.

Sounds idyllic! I’m glad you had such a good day.
