Last night I did slide. I slid in the corner of the tent and since it was pitched low the wall was right on top of me. I woke at midnight with the tent wall pressing on my face over my mouth and me stuck in the corner with the wind blowing on my face hard. I felt like I was being tortured. I woke in a panic. Our quilt straps around your neck to keep drafts out. I felt like I was drowning.
I ended up flipping around last night and sleeping head to toe with Natasha. To make that work I slept partly using my pack at my mattress because my (torso length) mattress was pushed down in the corner of the tent.
I slept terribly.
The morning was pretty and we were in good moods despite it.

The view was pretty.
We hiked at a decent pace and got to the road junction in good time. Today was a road walk around a closure that is to help the population of some frogs recover. We used the toilets and took a quick break and crushed the road walk. I think Secret walked at like 3 miles an hour on the road. He talks and talks and talks. I think most of this was about skiing and cars.
We did the entire thing in like an hour.
Then we got to an established campsite and had lunch and used toilets. He played. Then we hiked on the trail there to reconnect to the PCT. Again he crushed it.

All day we kept seeing these red plants. I have no idea what they are but will look it up.

We arrived at another campsite for a break yet again. Then this time took the blue line (alt) on the dirt road instead of the PCT then back into the PCT to camp by a stream. Beautiful spot.

Every time we set up the tent or take it down Secret shares a cool idea. Some examples:
- A tent outside that’s like ours but far away from our heads. It covers us in case it rains. He just invented a tarp
- A tent that’s held up by the wind
- A tent that flies like a kite
- Lots of variations like this
Tonight we didn’t read song lyrics. But I did read an extra story.
The plant is snow plant! Parasitic on mycorrhiza so it lost the gene for chlorophyll and is now red instead. Really enjoy following your hike, especially as a parent of young kids myself. Thank you for writing and sharing so many real moments!!
