We hiked through poodle dog all morning. It was hot, and part of trail is through burn so it’s dusty, poodle-y and hot.
At some point I got passed by a hiker that I don’t think even saw it and just brushed through it!
In general it wasn’t bad. Lots of farout comments suggested walking the road to avoid it but it was short lived and not that hard to avoid.

Eventually we were rewarded with some cool and shaded vegetation with pretty flowers and meadows. It was nice!

Then in the evening we decided to take a parallel road since it was more direct to our water source. Then head into Sawmill campground.
The road was pleasant. Meadows. Shade. Views.
The water was something else! A roof collects rain water, uses gutters to divert it and stores in an underground tank.

The camp was nice. We were one of three groups there. We picked a spot within sight of the toilets and decided to cowboy camp. Secret played around camp. We read stories. He climbed into the bear lockers. We had some (amazing) gluten free ramen bombs.

The camp got very busy later in the day. I feel bad for taking such a large spot. Trail families are all grouped together all around the campground.
