We hiked from the cabin to Walker Pass quickly. It was I think an 8 mile, mostly downhill day.
Secret was happy until it got hot. Then got understandably grumpy. Then bounced back and nearly ran the last three miles. He was both running and “galloping”. We got there before noon.
We were informed by a day hiker that there was trail magic but I figured it was the water cache they were talking about.
We got to the camp and saw sun shades, hot dogs, drinks, snacks, water. It was nice. We sat down and had some refreshments and talked to the other hikers.
Some people came by to give rides. Rolando and his son gave us a ride to Ridgecrest. We stayed at the American Inn and Suites. It was awesome. Party City booked a car starting tomorrow and we booked a hotel in Vegas. We will stay there a week or so to wait out the snow a little more before starting the Sierras with the kids. It’ll be hot this week so the snow is going to melt fast. We also have some new gear getting sorted out during this time. I’d rather stay in Vegas or Ridgecrest than Kennedy Meadows so I’m kind of looking forward to this break.
