PCT 2025 Day 95: untitled

We woke from our spot in good moods. Everyone got going and got along and we left camp at around 7am. Not amazing but alright.

Fairly quickly we passed some water (where we chose not to camp last night), scooped it and kept going.

We saw a pretty meadow and as we looked we saw a pack of wolves walking through the meadow. [Note, after this we were told there are no wolves in the Sierras but I did look this up and there is a pack in the area that recently moved in and aligns with what we saw. They could be coyotes but they were grey and looked a lot like wolves and not any coyotes I have seen in California or anywhere else]

The day was a good one. Kids behaved and in good moods.

We stopped for lunch at a creek and then realized we skipped past the trail headed to the ranger station. Good thing there’s another one soon. Secret loves having an opportunity to see a ranger.

Rock Creek was a chill crossing. Then the climb up was easier than I expected.

Break was also at Guyot Creek. That was very pretty. We saw a deer just before it. The deer ran right in front of us, turned around then ran back.

We had more of a climb. This was tougher but still alright. It was hard for me because I had to keep Lil Flier awake so she sleeps at bedtime. It’s hard singing and entertaining a baby while you are climbing a mountain pass.

We camped in Guyot Flats about 10.7 miles past last night’s spot. It is pretty here. I found a nice spot that’s both flat, fairly wind sheltered and on some pine needles so has a nice soft bed below it. We almost exclusively camp on hard surfaces or sand – this is a nice break.

Dinner was pleasant. We have been eating herring as our dinner protein. Secret loves it. It’s so tasty. But it’s canned. The pouch tuna options were basically Sriracha and Jalapeno. We needed something a 4 year old would eat. I’m glad he likes the herring.

Bedtime went well again. I think Secret was having a hard time last week because he was sick. He’s doing better now and I can see it in his mood and patience.
