Tehachapi is a cool place but stuff is far away for walking. We took a zero here. The hotel has an awesome continental breakfast so we gorge there. Our hotel has a pool, so the kids hang out here or go to the playground. I had to grab more groceries (missed a few things yesterday) … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 66: Tehachapi

PCT 2025 Day 65: flip the page
Today we can finally head to Tehachapi. It's windy! For a moment we walk over a ridge and the wind calms and Secret sees a train. He squeals - TRAIN! Awesome. We make it to the highway relatively early. We bump into Muff and another hiker as we walk along the road. We see a … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 65: flip the page
PCT 2025 Day 64: stickers!
Our campsite was pretty last night. And not much wind so I got much needed rest. More windmills More Joshua Trees. Some wash outs. We stopped for lunch at a campsite that had a water cache and lawn chair. We were offered a ride to town but we want to go to the highway not … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 64: stickers!
PCT 2025 Day 63: give me a break
The wind last night got really bad and changed in the worst direction. I barely slept. It was hard. I was mostly holding on to keep the quilt from blowing away. The kids were in the best spots but I was getting it in my face all night. It was a pretty cruisy and comfortable … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 63: give me a break
PCT 2025 Day 62: and the wheels go round and round
We had a short (roughly 1 mile) section of the Aquaduct to finish today. We headed into windmills in a seemingly endless wind farm. Lil Flier loved it. It's like a giant ceiling fan and babies LOVE ceiling fans. It made me disoriented though! I did some errands on the phone during the day. I … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 62: and the wheels go round and round
PCT 2025 Day 61: Aquaduct
We started a little earlier than usual. There was a wind warning and while it's supposed to be cooler today, it's exposed and a long stretch. The walk out of hikertown was a bit windy, but pretty. Pretty quickly we passed the depressing school that looks like a fenced in prison and reached the open … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 61: Aquaduct
PCT 2025 Day 60: this is hikertown baby, or “I lost my baby’s hat in Hikertown”
This was a fast and fun day. Secret was a lot of fun and just talked to me all day. The trail seems to wind around as it approaches hikertown - I felt like it had to be indirect because it felt unnaturally long. Hikertown is weird and quirky. The dogs were very excited and … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 60: this is hikertown baby, or “I lost my baby’s hat in Hikertown”
PCT 2025 Day 59: speeding up
More Meadows as we left camp. This is so refreshing. In a reverse move from yesterday we leave the meadow and see some poodle dog. We passed 500 miles today! We stopped for lunch at another campground that had some shade. Secret looked in all the bear lockers and eventually we got back on trail … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 59: speeding up
PCT 2025 Day 58: Meadows are welcome
We hiked through poodle dog all morning. It was hot, and part of trail is through burn so it's dusty, poodle-y and hot. At some point I got passed by a hiker that I don't think even saw it and just brushed through it! In general it wasn't bad. Lots of farout comments suggested walking … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 58: Meadows are welcome
PCT 2025 Day 57: mine, all mine
Leaving Green Valley is..well green. Overall a minor climb, some nice views and we ended up seeing some old mine shafts (which we took a break inside). They were neat. Not large. Closed off at the back so you can't go in far. They happen to provide some shade and a cool rest spot. It … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 57: mine, all mine
