We woke inside a cloud. The inside of the tent was damp. Our quilts are a bit damp. It was raining a bit outside.
We all packed up carefully in the tent and tried to break camp as much as possible with the kids in the tent then take the tent down last.
This is the second day I haven’t had to wear sunglasses.
We wore rain gear. Natasha and I brought our rain pants (a last minute decision – we probably would not have brought them to SoCal if we were hiking without kids). So we wore rain pants and jackets. The kids wore their down jackets with their rain gear on top. Lil Flier wore her fuzzy fleece jumper and Toothless wore his wind pants under the rain buntings. Toothless gets bread bags in his trail runners. Lil Flier gets ziplock bags over her feet. They stayed cozy.
We got to Mike’s for water at a good speed. I was carrying Toothless on and off on my shoulders. He was motivated and walked a lot.

We were tempted to stay at Mike’s and go indoors but we figured that would just suck us up all afternoon and we should just hike and stay warm that way.
By lunch the weather was not getting clear but we stopped and rushed a lunch and diaper change. I took Lil Flier then started hiking and within half an hour it cleared up and got sunny. Damn. I was still wearing rain gear. We hiked like that most of the afternoon. We got to our planned campsite early but chose to stop. It was flat. Dry. Pleasant. We set everything up and let the tent and gear dry out and hung out. Then ate dinner. And did bedtime.

Toothless is a trooper!
