PCT 2025 Day 44: Baden Powell

May 15, 2025May 11, 20251 Comment

We left the airBnB at 751am in a rush to meet Dale at 8 am for our ride at the hardware store. Hard to leave that place. It was very nice. Secret cried and said goodbye to the giant stuffed bear that was there. They were inseparable since we arrived. Dale is cool. Very fair … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 44: Baden Powell

PCT 2025 Day 43: zero Wrightwood

Not much to say here. We had an amazing zero. Having a playground in the yard of the place we rented was clutch. We got so much done. Secret played all day independently. We ate very well. I'm satisfied.

PCT 2025 Day 42; can you imagine a lizard riding a snake’s back

May 13, 2025May 10, 2025Leave a comment

We left camp. We had a warm night. We also had a warm morning. It's so weird having a hot night. I'm so used to the cold night in the desert here then those hot nights feel so uncomfortable. Today we only have 5 miles on trail to go. Then like three miles to highway. … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 42; can you imagine a lizard riding a snake’s back

PCT 2025 Day 41: train(ing) day

May 12, 2025May 11, 20251 Comment

Kid o'clock was at 5am today. So I guess we woke up then. Which was fine since we had to pack our bags, eat, clean the hotel room a bit and check out before getting back on trail. The kids were patient and did well. But the later we got the more distracted they got … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 41: train(ing) day

PCT 2025 Day 40: Cajon Pass

May 11, 2025May 10, 2025Leave a comment

It was a chill hike into the pass. But we still had to motivate Secret to move near the end. We saw lots of hikers we saw before including a woman and dog that we keep seeing. She's a day hiker but I think I've seen her three times! I think the hail got a … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 40: Cajon Pass

PCT 2025 Day 39: Friendly Scarecrow

May 10, 2025May 10, 2025Leave a comment

Today we hiked nearly 10 miles from the day use area. The weather we expected yesterday came today. We had snow, rain and hail. We all kept warm but had to keep feeding Secret his snacks for him to keep him fed and since he had mittens on. Be did great. The kids have some … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 39: Friendly Scarecrow

PCT 2025 Day 38: waiting for the rain

May 9, 2025May 9, 2025Leave a comment

We left the windy campsite feeling relieved. I don't have many notes on today. I recall some walking in the trees, then a water source before 8 miles of dry trail. We had a pretty short day. As we approached Silverwood Lake we could see the Boat in day use site. Secret called it the … Continue reading PCT 2025 Day 38: waiting for the rain

Day 37: reverberate baby

May 5, 2025April 30, 2025Leave a comment

We crushed out of deep Creek today. There was lots to see. Another bridge. More poison oak. Secret saw a snake right at the trail moving into the bushes. We hiked along Deep Creek more from the bridge. This time on the other side of the creek. We saw our second snake for the day … Continue reading Day 37: reverberate baby

Day 36: hot springs

May 4, 2025April 30, 2025Leave a comment

It was a nice day hiking along Deep Creek. Other than the marks of dirt bikes scarring the mountains it was very pleasant. We ended up at the hot springs and didn't participate. We ate and set up the tent. I made a choice on tent location that I may regret. It's more sloped but … Continue reading Day 36: hot springs

Day 35: deep creek

May 3, 2025April 29, 20251 Comment

After such a big day yesterday today had to average it out. We made it like 6.5 miles. I'm not complaining but it's nice being ahead of schedule a bit. Gives us more margin and time when we get to town. But it is what it is. We are going to unfortunately land end of … Continue reading Day 35: deep creek

Need to bring some gloves and garbage bags next time to get all the toilet paper 🙃 Planned to try and hit up all the accessible peaks on Grouse on their free day for locals, but the rain put a slight damper 😉 on our plans.
